Written by Sean, Sonya & Paco for Cancun Indymedia Yesterday's [Friday September 12th] great shutdown of Cancun's hotel zone began at 4pm with 4 mexicans confronting a police roadblock. The mexican protestors were demanding their right to be heard and had intended to protest against the harmful and damaging policies of the World Trade Organisation. According to the Mexican constitution, all citizens have the right to protest. Yesterday, these 4 mexicans were denied that right and prevented from entering the hotel zone. However, what the police did do in blocking these protestors, was to effectively shut down the main entrance to the hotel zone! Watch Video by Sara.
