At the Green Witch Gathering over the weekend of June 14-16, the group went on
a journey to the mystical Green Witch Village, a place outside of space and time
where we are building/ are able to build our Green Witch community. We remained
in this space from Friday night until early Sunday morning (or late sat night
depending on where you count such things ;->).

During this time, we conceived the need for a guardian spirit of the Green Witch
Village, a warden and keeper of the space, a spirit embodiment of our shared
ideals; An entity on whom we may call, when the activist, the environmentalist,
the worker for a better world, the Green Witch finds her/his energy is low or
threatened.

We call her Gretch Wyn

Gretch Wyn is envisaged as being of the forests, with skin like a eucalypt tree,
brown/grey/red smooth where the bark has come off, wrinkled with the years, but
more beautiful for the evidence of her life.

She embodies the great compassion that forces us to think of the social problems
of the world, as well as the subsequent righteous anger of the activist. She has
the wisdom of ages, so can offer us surprising solutions and leadership when we
are confused and unable to see an answer.

During the evocation, a variety of offerings were made, herbs and plants, song
and dance, thoughts and ideas, locks of hair and personal songs and chants of
power. We then invited Gretch Wyn to recognise and inhabit a sigil for us*.

We invite the ActElementals to know Gretch Wyn, to invoke her, to know her
power.

NOTES ON TERMINOLOGY:

madwolf: We call her Gretch Wyn

or Gretchwyn: Sean says "saying the name out loud it sounds better to me when
the syllables are joined and i say one word, rather than two.."

Madwolf: "We then invited Gretch Wyn to recognise and inhabit a sigil"

Sean: "i wouldn't say she inhabited the sigil, but that she had the sigil ... as
in "we then empowered a sigil in her name that she might come when we use it to
call her"

We also had debate about whether Gretch Wyn was a goddess, an elemental or a
servitor. Unresolved but not very divisive.

Lithe with the grace to bend with the storm

Strength of eternity, seed to sapling to towering gum



From emerald eyes the fire of righteous anger burns away all falsehood

Lover of the Green Man, mother of the activist, daughter of our village,
guardian of our sacred space



You are the shield to soften the blow, the rampart upon which we stand

The force behind whom we can continue our advance

The cool stream in which to wash away the taint of hatred and fear

You are the arrow from the darkness, which pierces the heart of corruption



You are the green peace at the heart of the forest

The warden, embodiment and spirit of our sacred hope
