A ritual self-sacrifice
Ritual Self Sacrifice
==============
The purpose of this ritual is to ritually sacrifice yourself, visit your favourite God in hir realm (heaven, hell, holy mountain, whatever) and then return to mundus reborn.
This is also a good initiation ritual. If you believe that there are two types of people: initiates and muggles, then this is a good way to become initiated.
whilst in the heavenly realm, you can truly kill off some part of your self that is no longer useful. some things you might want to kill of are: ill-health, self-doubt, self-damaging programming and any major addictions you might have.
Requirements
============
You will need a largish alter, if outdoors, a large rock you can lie on. if indoors a large table that will double as an alter. It must be big enough to lie on.
You will need at least one assistant for this version of the ritual. The assistant will play the role of priest/ess and will evoke the god to whom you will be taken. If you are going to do this ritual solo, you'll have to adapt it. please send me the text of any adaptions for my own interest!
You will need some red dye, to reproduce a blood like effect. Food colouring is probably best. mix the dye so you can splash about when the time comes. dye stains on skin for several days, but will stay on clothes and/or hair for ages so plan carefully what you want to do with this.
You will need a ritual dagger. the dagger should ideally already be consecrated. If it is your will, the dagger should be sharp enough to cut through a small amount of skin.
You will need to be familiar with magick in general, as well as a banishing ritual, how to evoke an entity and the neo-yogic Death Posture, described elsewhere.

First of all perform a banishing ritual. the type of ritual completely depends on the tradition you are using. Banishing clears your physical temple of unwanted energy and psychic leftovers; it is a useful way to remind yourself that you are entering a magickal reality, where normal rules do not apply and it sets the confines of the space you will be working in.
For the example below, using Greek Eris, i suggest calling Eris, Eros, Iris, Pan in the four directions. but this is purely your choice.
Take Aim:

State your magickal name and your magickal grade (if any), as well as any magickal group, religion or temple you belong to, if stating this empowers you.
State your intent. Tell the magickal space, your priest/ess and all present (including banishing points/archangels/watchtowers) who you are going to call in, what part of yourself you want to sacrifice and what you hope to achieve from this. Also tell the god who you will evoke.
you: I am Frater two dot three P I of the red hairy jedi. I tell ye all that it is my truest of true wills to die and be reborn. Reborn I shall be, an initiate, and one of the Dark Lords Of Chaos.
It is my will, fratres et sorores, to die, to visit Eris in her wondrous caves of chaos hidden within the holy mountain.
Eris, i tell you, I will die for you.
I will die for you and come to see you, to speak with you, to dance with you.
I will die, live a short death with you, then return to the mundane world born anew, no longer with dependencies. born anew with invigoration, lvx, joy. I will leave with you my addictions that you may add it to your arsenal or otherwise do as you will. I will to become a true Dark Lord.

Priest/ess:
Are you ready to die for Eris?
you: I am ready to die now for Eris.
derobe, and lie down, face up on the alter. close your eyes. now many magicians engage in sex magick, and some take another step outwards and engage in ritual sexual restraint.
with ritual bondage you can be deprived of all movement and all senses except that which the priest/ess allows you. a big part of magickal ritual is the play it has on your consciousness so to deprive yourself of all senses is incredibly empowering.
restraint allows a much higher sensitivity to your energetic surrounds, and essentially stops any outside distractions almost completely allowing you, as the magician, to attain full focus, and heightened gnosis.
if you opt to use ritual sexual restraint, allow your priest/ess to restrain you to the alter, blindfold you and even gag your mouth if it will help. (make sure you've got some hand signals worked out, such as "fuck ! stop !" and " wicked yeah!" etc.)
evocation:
==========
it's now time to call your deity in to your temple. You have to do all you can to get hir attention, which means having the temple decorated correctly, find out the right colours, names, numbers of candles, keywords etc....
priest/ess evokes:
by the power of castle greyskull and all that is fnord i call on thee, humour of humours, goddess of supreme chaos and ruler of the world. i offer you this human life for a loan. may your chaos reign supreme and thereby may the world be saved. Eris ! Eris ! be with us be here and take this soul to visit your realm!
well after a bit of that, if you know what you're doing, your god/dess will come into your temple... this is where the sexual restraint and goody goody fun play comes into effect... your priest/ess while still calling on your God brings you close to climax many times, always raising the energy, bring the energy to a peak peak peak and always calling the god and feeling the god coming closer....
just before your evocative climax (including sexual climax) priest/ess:
BEHOLD ERIS ! you are here ! I offer you this life! take it! take it ! take it ! sexual climax here....
during the sexual or other climax, the priest/ess take the blindfold off, and puts the point of the dagger to your heart.... spilling a little real blood is optional, but powerful... the priest/ess holds your head so you can see your heart and at this stage the dye is poured all over your body to symbolise blood .... you are then blindfolded again and, if you've evoked well, you will be taken away on a fantastic astral journey to see your god...
priest/ess:
take this soul away, mighty eris, take this soul to your kingdom and play with it as you will... Away! away! away! io!
so what happens next is really dependent on the focus of the ritual... the priestess should best sit in silent meditation but best not to disturb you for a good half an hour.... she should find something to do (maybe think of something before you start the rite.) giving the sacrificee a chi massage might be a good way to clear out any energy blocks.
one plugin here is to have the sacrificee speak aloud about all s/he sees whilst away and the priest/ess writes it all down.
after half an hour (or so) or when signalled by the sacrificee, the priest/ess calls:
priest/ess:
Behold, a new soul is born, return to us frater two three dot P I. Eris, send this soul back from your caves of chaos reborn.
the priestess gently touches, rubs and massages the sacrificee bringing life back in all the while speaking to eris and you...
the sacrificee is slowly untied and performs another banishing to clear the air.
thanks are given, wine is drunk, spliffs are toked. more bondage is optional.... the lessons learnt during the voyage are shared with all present.
the priestess then closes the ritual and all present should banish the forces by joyful laughter.
